Nancy R. Lazar leads the Economic Research team of Cornerstone Macro. Nancy’s work is known for being comprehensive, highly-detailed and unbiased. Before founding Cornerstone, she was Co-Founder, and Vice Chairman of ISI Group for more than 20 years. Nancy has been an Institutional Investor-ranked economist for the past 17 years, ranking in the top two the past nine years. In 2015 she ranked #1. Nancy has also been named to Barron’s 100 Most Influential Women in U.S. Finance in 2020 and 2021. Prior to founding ISI in 1991, Nancy was a Senior Vice President at C.J. Lawrence. She is a 1979 graduate of Kalamazoo College in Michigan. Nancy is a member of The Economic Club of New York, New York Forecasters, Money Marketeers, NYABE, NABE, and Women in Finance & Housing.
Senior U.S. Economist
Jake Oubina is the Senior U.S. Economist on the Economics Research team at Cornerstone Macro. Jake specializes in broadening and deepening the Economics Research team’s coverage, working on Micro to Macro, thematic research and more. Prior to joining Cornerstone, he served as a Director and Senior U.S. Economist at RBC Capital Markets for over 10 years. Prior to RBC, Jake was a Senior Economist and Strategist at Gain Capital and he started his career as an Economist at Merrill Lynch in 2005. Jake graduated from Rutgers University with a Bachelor of Science in Finance.
Karina Mayer is a member of the Economics Research team at Cornerstone Macro. Prior to joining Cornerstone Macro, she was a Managing Director at International Strategy and Investment Group (ISI). Karina has worked side by side with Nancy Lazar for the past 19 years, focusing primarily on global macro analysis. She started her career at the iconic Data Resources (later DRI/McGraw Hill) analyzing the maritime sector, including merchandise trade and vessel capacity. She graduated from American University (School of International Service), majoring in Economics and Finance.
Chris Menzenski, CFA
Chris is a member of the Economic Research team at Cornerstone Macro. Before joining Cornerstone, Chris spent five years at International Strategy and Investment Group (ISI) as an economist. Chris graduated from Duke University with majors in Electrical Engineering and Art History, and is a CFA charterholder.
Arif is a member of the Economic Research team at Cornerstone Macro. Previously, he worked at International Strategy and Investment Group (ISI) as an economist. Prior to joining ISI, Arif spent seven years on Capitol Hill working for Representative John Conyers. Arif graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in Economics and received a Masters in Economics from Johns Hopkins University.
Diana Hagedorn is a member of the Economic Research team at Cornerstone Macro. Prior to joining Cornerstone Macro, Diana served as an Investment Analyst for the Stony Brook Foundation, where she executed a quantitative approach to asset allocation, manager selection, and risk management. She graduated cum laude from Stony Brook University with a BA in Economics, and a minor in Applied Mathematics & Statistics.
Harry is a member of the Economic Research team at Cornerstone Macro. Previously, he worked at Wells Fargo Securities as an economic analyst on both the international and domestic research teams. Harry graduated from the University of Virginia where he double majored in economics and history.
David Wigglesworth is a member of the Economic Research team at Cornerstone Macro. His work experience includes roles in data analytics consulting and applied economic research. David completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Pennsylvania, where he studied Economics and Statistics.

Allison (Ali) Bara is Executive Assistant to Nancy Lazar at Cornerstone Macro. Previously, Allison held Executive Assistant positions at ISI supporting Nancy Lazar, JLL Partners, and GSC Partners, as well as Accounting positions at Geller & Company, and The Riverside Company. She attended Long Island University/Southampton and enjoys skiing, cycling, surfing and traveling.
Michael Kantrowitz, CFA
Chief Investment Strategist
Michael heads the Portfolio Strategy team at Cornerstone Macro. Michael’s expertise includes identifying changing trends that influence business cycles while providing forward-looking investment recommendations on global asset allocation, sector positioning, stock selection and portfolio construction. Buy-side investors ranked Michael as one of the top 3 Portfolio Strategists in the Institutional Investor Magazine All Americas Research poll in 2020.
Earlier, Michael was the Director of Portfolio Strategy at Wolfe Trahan & Co. and a Managing Director at International Strategy and Investment Group (ISI). During his time at Wolfe Trahan and ISI, Michael helped build out the Portfolio Strategy and Quantitative Research products.
Michael began his career in equity research at Merrill Lynch & Co. in the Investment Strategy department. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Financial Economics from Binghamton University and is a CFA Charterholder.
Emily Needell, CFA
Deputy Chief Investment Strategist
Emily Needell is the Deputy Chief Investment Strategist at Cornerstone Macro. Emily has been with the team for over a decade and focuses on forecasting macro trends. Emily specializes in bridging the gap between forward-looking macro themes and portfolio positioning & stock selection. Prior to joining Cornerstone Macro, Emily was a Research Associate at Wolfe Trahan & Co. on the Portfolio Strategy and Quantitative Research team. Emily started her career at LaBranche & Co. with an internship on the NYSE floor. Emily studied engineering and business and graduated with a Bachelors of Science from Cornell University. Emily is a CFA Charterholder.
Dan Nivasch is a member of the Portfolio Strategy team. Before joining the team, he had interned with the Portfolio Strategy and Insights teams. Dan graduated from Tufts University with a BA in Economics and a minor in Finance. He was a part of the Alpha Fund, the student-led investment fund at Tufts University, and created/taught finance programming to college students as well. In his spare time, he played ice hockey for the club team at Tufts.

Stephen heads the quantitative Portfolio Insights team at Cornerstone Macro, and spearheads the research and development of new quantitative tools and concepts. Previously, Stephen was a Director at Wolfe Trahan & Co. on the Portfolio Strategy and Quantitative Research team. Earlier, Stephen spent two years building the quantitative effort at International Strategy and Investment Group (ISI). In 2010, 2011 and 2012, the team’s work has been ranked in the Top 3 in Institutional Investor magazine’s All-American Research Team for Quantitative Analysis. Previously, Stephen worked in a quantitative capacity at Dreman Value Management and Bear Stearns & Co. He holds an MBA in Financial Engineering from the Stevens Institute of Technology and also earned an undergraduate degree in Economics from Pennsylvania State University.
Joe Ramirez, CFA
Portfolio Strategy and Quantitative Research
Joe uses his passion for tech to advance the data science efforts on the Portfolio Strategy and Quantitative Research team at Cornerstone Macro. He spends much of his time developing new ways to model economic and quantitative factor data and enjoys building out interactive dashboards for his analysis. Previously, he spent 4 years as the Director of Data Analytics at Tomahawk/Surgo Group, leading a team of data scientists in efforts to analyze alternative data for investment research applications. Joe received his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from MIT in 2007 and is a CFA charterholder. He lives in Manhattan, but is frequently found in Chicago, his beloved hometown.
Andy Laperriere, CFA
Partner, Head of US Policy
Andy Laperriere is head of US Policy Research for Cornerstone Macro in Washington, DC, where he analyzes the market implications of policy and political developments. Andy analyzes how tax, budget, trade, health care, banking, housing, energy and other policy changes could impact the economy and financial markets. He also tracks geopolitical developments, elections and political trends.
Prior to helping found Cornerstone Macro, Andy was a Senior Managing Director at ISI Group and the head of ISI’s Policy Research team. Before joining ISI, he spent eight years on Capitol Hill working for former House Majority Leader Dick Armey. Andy has been an Institutional Investor-ranked analyst for the past 18 years, and his policy team ranked #1 in 13 of those 18 years.
He graduated from Villanova University in 1990, earned a Masters in Economics from George Mason University in 1997, and is a CFA charterholder. Along with his wife Brandi, he helped found an inner-city Christian school that provides opportunity to children in one of Washington’s poorest neighborhoods.
Partner, Head of Global Policy
Roberto Perli is one of the founding partners of Cornerstone Macro, a firm dedicated to providing best-in-class macro research to institutional investors. Roberto heads global policy research. His experience crafting and implementing monetary policy at the U.S. Federal Reserve lends him unique insight into an extremely important force in today’s markets.
Prior to co-founding Cornerstone Macro, Roberto was a Senior Managing Director at International Strategy and Investment Group (ISI). Before joining ISI in 2010, Roberto was an officer and senior staff member at the Federal Reserve Board in Washington, DC. In that capacity, he assisted the Board and the FOMC in the formulation of monetary policy, helped drafting FOMC statements as well as speeches and testimonies for Chairman Bernanke and other Governors. He also was heavily involved in the design and implementation of the Federal Reserve’s policy responses to the financial crisis.
Before joining the Fed, Roberto started his career as an assistant professor of economics at the University of Pennsylvania from 1995 to 2001. Roberto (with Andy Laperriere) has been voted the #1 Washington Research analyst for seven of the past eight years in the Institutional Investor magazine’s All-American Research survey. Roberto graduated from the University of Venice, Italy in 1990 with majors in Economics and Mathematics and received his PhD in Economics from New York University in 1995.
Head of Quantitative Global Policy Analytics
Benson Durham joined the Global Policy Research team at Cornerstone Macro in March 2020. His career to date includes roles in central banking and Wall Street. He was a senior staffer at the Federal Reserve Board, the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, and the International Monetary Fund. He has also held senior roles as a quantitative analyst and a portfolio manager at buy side firms such as TIAA, Capital Group, Brevan Howard, and BlackRock. His research on several topics at the intersection of financial asset-pricing and anomalies, global monetary policy, and political economy has appeared in peer-reviewed publications such as the Journal of Portfolio Management, Financial Analysts Journal, the European Economic Review, International Organization, and the Journal of Fixed Income. He earned his BA and PhD in political science from the University of California at Berkeley and Columbia University, respectively, and an MSc in mathematical finance from Oxford University, Balliol College.
Melissa Turner, CFA
Melissa Turner is a member of the Policy Research team at Cornerstone Macro. Previously, she was an Associate Managing Director at International Strategy and Investment Group (ISI) on the policy team. Melissa has been a member of the #1 Institutional Investor-ranked Washington Research team for 12 straight years. She graduated from Georgetown University with a major in Finance and minor in Economics, and she is a CFA charterholder.
US Policy Research
Don Schneider is a member of the Policy Research team at Cornerstone Macro. Prior to joining Cornerstone Macro, Schneider served as the Chief Economist of the House Ways and Means Committee. While at Ways and Means he advised the Chairman on economic issues, tax policy, and budgetary matters, including changes to the debt limit. Prior to that he served as an Economist at the House Budget Committee. Schneider received a Masters degree in Applied Economics from Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelors degree in Economics from the College of Charleston.
Andrea Vera has been a member of the Policy Research team at Cornerstone Macro since 2013. Previously, Andrea worked for the Virginia Tech Athletic Video Department and Virginia Tech Football as a producer, editor and videographer. Andrea received a BA in Communications and Spanish from Virginia Tech and earned a full scholarship to pursue an MA in Spanish.
Chief of Technical Analysis
Carter Worth, who previously served as chief market technician and a managing director at Sterne Agee, was voted #1 technical analyst on Institutional Investor’s All-America Research team for 2017 and 2016, and he was voted in the top three the seven years leading up to 2016. Prior to joining Sterne Agee, Carter Worth worked at Oppenheimer & Co and Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette. He holds a bachelor’s degree in international relations from Boston University.
Jillian Tarlowe joined Cornerstone Macro’s Technical Analysis Team in September 2015. Prior to joining Cornerstone, she worked as a Trading and Operations Intern at Alpine Global while completing her doctoral studies. Jillian received a PhD in Neuroscience from Rutgers University, where her dissertation focused on developing algorithms to analyze complex human behaviors. While at Rutgers, she was awarded the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship and the National Institutes of Health Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award. In 2008, Jillian graduated cum laude from the New Jersey Institute of Technology with a BS in Biomedical Engineering.
Global Energy Economist
Johannes (Jan) Stuart leads the new energy-macro team at Cornerstone Macro. A self-described oil-geek, Jan and his team take a micro-fundamentals approach to energy analysis and forecasting – which frequently lands them away from consensus. Before joining Cornerstone, Jan spent 11 years in sell-side research, building leading energy-macro franchises at Credit Suisse, Macquarie and UBS. He was a journalist for much of the nineties and started his career at the International Energy Agency in Paris.
Jan earned a BA in International Affairs from the American University in Paris; an MA in the same field from Boston University; and an MSc in Journalism from Columbia University in New York.
Global Energy Strategist
Thomas Marchetti is the Global Energy Strategist for the Cornerstone Marco Energy team. He has a longer tenure working with research teams, institutional investors, corporate executives, policy interests and capital markets at investment banks. His experience includes roles as President of Energy Intelligence, Global Energy Strategist and Managing Director at Credit Suisse and Jefferies, portfolio manager with Lehman Brothers Equity Management and Jefferies Asset Management for equities and commodities. He worked as Chief Financial Officer of Raimund Commodities, Financial Analyst at J. Aron Commodities Division of Goldman Sachs and specialized in the finance industry while at KPMG Peat Marwick. He graduated from Bucknell University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) in Accounting and Finance. He earned his Certified Public Accountant (CPA), US Sustainable Investment Forum (US-SIF), and formerly a Member of the Board of Directors of the Specialized Information Publishers Association (SIPA).
James Noonan joined the Energy Team at Cornerstone Macro in early 2021. Previously, James managed a small team supporting multiple commodity and energy trading desks at DRW Holdings. From 2007 to 2016, James fulfilled several roles at Castleton Commodities International supporting energy Portfolio Managers, merchant energy traders, and the dry bulk shipping team.
James graduated from Fairfield University with a major in International Business and minor in Economics. James earned an MBA from Iona College and is a CFA Charterholder.
TMT Desk Analyst
Victor Cossel joined Cornerstone Macro in June of 2019 as a TMT Desk Analyst. He has nearly 20 years of experience in the Equities business starting with JP Morgan in 1999 as a US Sales generalist and later serving as a Technology Sector Specialist with Morgan Stanley for six years until 2010 and most recently with Evercore ISI for two years. Victor spent six years as an Investment Manager of VMO Capital, LLC, a firm he founded in 2011. He is a graduate of Colgate University where he received a BA in Economics.
Head of Trading
John Pietanza joined Cornerstone Macro in April 2014 as a member of the Institutional Sales team, before transitioning to the trading desk. Prior to joining Cornerstone Macro, John was a Managing Director at Miller Tabak + Co., LLC, in Institutional Equity & Derivative Research Sales & Trading from 2005-2014, and he was a Macroeconomic and Bond Market Strategist from 2002-2004, in which he focused on various fixed income instruments and commodities. Prior to Miller Tabak, John worked at JP Morgan Securities from 1997-2002 as a trader on the US Treasury Desk, primarily focused on the short end of the treasury curve, and also short duration FNMA, FHLMC, FHLB bonds. John began his career at Smith Barney in 1996 as a sales liaison for TRAK, a $6 billion asset allocation service. John graduated from St John’s University with a degree in Finance and studied Yield Curve Analysis at the New York Institute of Finance.
Brian Byrne joined Cornerstone Macro in 2014 helping to launch the firms equity trading desk. Prior to joining Cornerstone, he was Managing Director and Head of Trading for Miller Tabak & Co., LLC. In his 12 years at Miller Tabak he lead the company’s trading and operations efforts across products, specializing in the discreet handling of institutional order flow, complex algorithmic orders, portfolio rebalancing and listed option strategy and trading. Before being named Head of Trading in 2008, he ran the Algorithmic and Portfolio trading group, working closely with programmers in developing proprietary trading technology. Prior to moving to New York City in 2006, Brian worked as a hybrid sales trader/trader in the Boston office of Miller Tabak, which he helped open in 2002. There he focused on covering Boston based asset managers, trading equities and options. Brian began his career as a trader at Navigator Asset Management, a Boston based hedge fund. At Navigator, Brian was responsible for trading across all products and managed all operations. Brian graduated from Trinity College with majors in Economics and Computer Science.
Brian Scollard joined Cornerstone Macro as an Equity Trader in November 2017. He graduated from the College of the Holy Cross in 2000 with a BA in Political Science and was captain of the Men’s Lacrosse team. After graduation, he joined Solomon Smith Barney’s International Equity desk as an AVP and was responsible for trading European, Canadian, Asian and EM ADR and non-dollar equities. Brian joined Knight Capital Group as a VP in December 2002 to help create Knight’s first International Institutional equity desk and build out their Domestic Institutional Equity trading capabilities. He was the youngest trader in Knight’s history to be promoted to Director, and went on to become their Senior Americas and European equity trader. Brian left Knight in 2012 and joined Janney Montgomery Scott as their Senior Industrial and TMT sector trader. In 2015 he was hired by Wunderlich as a MD to run their institutional equity trading desk, where he managed seven senior traders and oversaw all daily operations.
Chris Trombino joined Cornerstone Macro in December 2019 as a member of the trading desk. He graduated from Fairfield University in 2011 with a degree in Finance. After graduation he joined Strategas Securities on the Institutional Research Sales Team where he was responsible for acquiring and growing institutional client relationships, primarily in New York and Chicago. Most recently Chris was a Director on the Equity Trading Desk at Strategas from 2013-2019 covering clients in a sales trading capacity.

Head of Options Trading & Strategy
Danny Kirsch joined Cornerstone Macro in August 2015 to build out the firm’s options strategy and trading effort. He works with Cornerstone’s industry-leading research to deliver actionable trade ideas to institutional clients and execute listed equity, index and ETF option orders on their behalf. Danny’s option market insights have been featured in the Wall Street Journal, CNBC, among other trade publications. Most recently Danny was a senior sales trader at Macro Risk Advisors, where he led the firm’s derivatives strategy effort and executed listed option, equity and ETF trades. Prior to MRA, Danny worked at Bank of America where he helped launch the firm’s equity derivatives desk in London, servicing European hedge funds. He graduated from the University of Michigan undergraduate business school. Danny is a CFA charterholder.
George spearheads the options strategy effort at Cornerstone Macro, providing key insight into volatility markets, identifying actionable trade ideas, and advising clients on structuring and managing trades. Most recently George was an options strategist at Point72 Asset Management. Prior to Point72, George was Head of Risk Strategy at Macro Risk Advisors and worked on the convertible bond desk at Marathon Asset Management. He graduated from MIT with bachelors’ degrees in Physics and Economics.
Tom Keen is a member of the Options Strategy & Trading team. Prior to joining Cornerstone Macro, he was at Bloomberg LP focusing on the Cross-Asset Derivatives platform, handling product development, support, and sales. At Bloomberg, Tom developed strategy-based content that has been featured in both Bloomberg Markets and on the Bloomberg Professional Service. Tom holds a degree in Economics and Finance from the University of Delaware, and a Masters of Business Administration from New York University’s Stern School of Business.
Michael Marino is a member of Cornerstone’s Option and Strategy team. Prior to joining Cornerstone Michael was a senior derivative sales trader at Macro Risk Advisor where he helped clients develop and execute single stock and index hedging strategies. He also ran the options sales and trading desk at Landenburg Thalmann and helped launch WJB Capital’s options desk. Michael started his trading career as an options market maker on the Philadelphia Exchange. He has a BA from Saint Michael’s college where he was a two sport athlete playing lacrosse and ice hockey.
Chris Kettenmann is an Energy Trader at Cornerstone Macro LLC. He works with the firm’s clients to trade tactical derivatives strategies, hedging equity and credit risk across oil & gas and renewables. Prior to Cornerstone, Chris was a Partner and Chief Energy Strategist at Macro Risk Advisors LLC, an independent derivatives strategy and execution firm. Previously, Chris Kettenmann was Chief Energy Strategist at Prime Executions where he provided research coverage of global integrated oils, onshore U.S. exploration & production companies and select renewable energy stocks. In 2014, he stepped out from consensus with a bearish “oil price break” call on oil and energy equities. He began his career at Miller Tabak & Co. where he was an associate on the energy research team. He received a BA in Political Science/International Relations from Carleton College.
Options Strategy and Trading Analyst
Jackson Cannon is a member of the Options Strategy and Trading team. Jackson interned under Danny Kirsch and the options team prior to joining in 2021. He assists in the trading execution and strategy efforts of the desk. Jackson graduated from Wake Forest University’s undergraduate School of Business with a BS in Business and Enterprise Management, concentrating in Financial Analysis.
David joined Cornerstone Macro in November of 2018 to help support the operations needs of the expanding options and equity trading teams. He works closely with all members of the teams to ensure a smooth trading day and is ready to tackle any problems that may arise. Most recently David was an operations manager at Integral Derivatives. Prior to that role David had many years of experience as an Options Specialist on the floor of the American Stock Exchange. David graduated with a degree in Economics from Carnegie Mellon University, he currently holds the Series 7, 4 and 24 licenses.
Elise Byrnes is a member of the Institutional Sales team at Cornerstone Macro, covering New York as well as California. Prior to joining Cornerstone Macro, Elise spent three years in Institutional Sales as an Associate Managing Director at International Strategy and Investment Group (ISI.) Elise started her career as an intern at ISI on the Economics team working with Nancy Lazar. Elise graduated cum laude from Wake Forest University with a BA in Political Science and Minors in Economics & International Studies.
Frank Chiodi is a member of the Institutional Sales team at Cornerstone Macro. Prior to joining Cornerstone Macro, Frank was a Senior Managing Director and Partner at International Strategy and Investment (ISI) where he worked from the firm’s founding in 1991 to 2013. Frank started his career at Jennison Associates where he was Manager of Portfolio Accounting/Client Services. Frank graduated from West Virginia University where he earned a B.S. of Accounting/M.B.A in Finance. He also holds an M.A. degree in America Studies from Columbia University.
Chris Derrico is a member of the Institutional Sales team at Cornerstone Macro. Prior to joining Cornerstone Macro, Chris worked as a business analyst for The FDM Group. Chris graduated from the University of Richmond with a BS in Accounting and a concentration in Finance. While at the University of Richmond, Chris was a member of the Men’s Rugby Team and spent a semester studying abroad at the University of Mannheim, in Germany.
Jay Glickson is a member of the Institutional Sales team at Cornerstone Macro. Prior to joining Cornerstone Macro, Jay was a Partner and Managing Director at International Strategy and Investment Group (ISI) from 2002-2013. Prior to ISI, Jay was at CIBC Oppenheimer in the Corporate Executive Service Group. He received an undergraduate degree from University of Maryland at College Park and obtained an MBA from The George Washington University.
Scott Gregoire is a member of the Institutional Sales team at Cornerstone Macro. Prior to joining Cornerstone Macro, Scott was a Director at BMO Capital Markets on their sales desk from 2011-2016. Prior to BMO, Scott was at International Strategy and Investment Group (ISI) from 2004-2011, also in a sales capacity. He received a B.A from McGill University, where he currently sits on the Faculty of Arts advisory board.
Fernando A. Irausquin
Fernando A. Irausquin is member of the Institutional Sales team at Cornerstone Macro. Prior to joining Cornerstone Macro, Fernando served as Head of International Institutional Services at Wolfe Trahan & Co from February 2012 to May 2013. Fernando was previously a Partner at International Strategy and Investment Group (ISI) from 2000-2012, where he was active in establishing, maintaining and growing the firm’s largest international client relationships. Prior to ISI, Fernando was at Paine Webber and BEA Associates in Asset Management and Emerging Markets Fixed Income Fund Management. Fernando started his career in 1990 as an analyst in the Emerging Markets M&A and Corporate Finance division at Bankers Trust. Fernando graduated cum laude from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania with a BS in Economics and Finance and a BA in Asian Studies.
Lee Jekos, CFA
Lee Jekos is a member of the Institutional Sales team at Cornerstone Macro. Prior to joining Cornerstone Macro, Lee was a partner at International Strategy and Investment Group (ISI) from 2001-2013, covering US and Canadian accounts on the Institutional Sales desk. Prior to ISI, Lee worked for three years at Greenwich Associates, a market-research based consulting firm. He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1997 with degrees in economics and psychology, and is a CFA charterholder.
Eric Lupton is a member of the Institutional Sales team at Cornerstone Macro. Prior to joining Cornerstone in May 2015, Eric was a salesperson at MSCI where he was responsible for coverage of plan sponsor relationships in the Southeast, Mid-Atlantic, and New York City. Eric began his career as an equity research analyst at Chilton Investment Company. He received his undergraduate degree in economics from Union College, and a Masters of Business Administration from The University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
Samantha McDermott is a member of the Institutional Sales team at Cornerstone Macro. Prior to joining Cornerstone, Samantha worked as a media buyer for GroupM. Samantha graduated from Providence College with a BS in Marketing and Finance. While at Providence, Samantha was a member of the Women’s club lacrosse team.
Nick Miller joined Cornerstone Macro in February of 2018. Prior to Cornerstone Macro, Nick was at Empirical Research Partners a Portfolio Strategy and Quantitative Research firm where he was responsible for covering institutional clients in NY, Boston and the Mid-West. Prior to that he worked at Guggenheim Securities where he was responsible for developing the firms’ institutional relationships in Mid-West region. Nick began his career at Dahlman Rose & Co a specialized Energy and Commodities Investment Bank where here was responsible for managing institutional relationships in the NY and Midwest regions. Nick graduated from Fordham University.
Peter is Cornerstone Macro’s resident market junkie, joining the firm 2016 as a member of the sales team covering international accounts. Since joining Cornerstone, he became the desk strategist in 2019, and most recently promoted to Head of Research Content. Prior to joining Cornerstone, Peter worked as a global macro analyst at Verition Fund Mgmt. Previously, Peter spent 2 years at Wall Street Access and 4 years at Direct Access Partners as a VP of Technical Research Analyst covering global macro. Prior to becoming a research analyst, Peter was a trader at Quadrum Capital Management executing trades across multiple asset classes. Peter started his career at Direct Access Partners as an Institutional Equity Sales Trader in 2005. Peter graduated Baruch College with a bachelor’s degree in Finance and Investments. Peter lives in Staten Island NY with his wife, two children and is an avid soccer fan.
Keith Reilly is a member of the Institutional Sales team at Cornerstone Macro. Prior to joining Cornerstone Macro, Keith was previously a Partner at International Strategy and Investment Group (ISI) from 1996-2013, where he was active in establishing, maintaining and growing some of the firm’s largest client relationships. Prior to ISI, Keith was at Dreyfus Corporation and JP Morgan. Keith started his career in 1988 as a Financial Consultant at and Johnston , Lemon and Company. Keith graduated from University of Maryland with a BS in Economics.
Matt Scouten joined the Sales team at Cornerstone Macro in May of 2015. Prior to Cornerstone, he worked as a Sales Manager for Tom Cody Design where he was responsible for sales in North America. Matt graduated from Siena College in 2012 with a BA in Finance.
Ambreen Shah, CFA
Ambreen Shah joined the Institutional Sales team at Cornerstone Macro in October 2015. She has a strong background in macro research sales, having joined International Strategy and Investment (ISI) in 2007 on their sales desk. After ISI, Ambreen was a founding partner at Renaissance Macro from March 2011 to June 2014. Most recently, she was a managing director in sales at GMP Securities focused on the energy sector. Ambreen began her career at Wachovia Securities, first as an investment banking analyst and then moved into equity sales trading. She graduated from Colgate University with a BA in economics and is a CFA charterholder.
Tom Thayer joined the Cornerstone Macro team in November of 2014. Prior to Cornerstone Macro, Tom worked at Wolfe Research (fka Wolfe Trahan) for three and a half years. Prior to that, he worked in finance at Estee Lauder Companies. He is a graduate of Bucknell University and has a MBA from NYU’s Stern School of Business. Tom hails from Long Island, but currently resides in Brooklyn with his wife and two children.
President and Chief Financial Officer
Jeff joined Cornerstone Macro in November 2018. He has worked in financial and operational leadership roles in multiple industries over the past 25 years including consumer products, wholesale/imports, real estate, agriculture, and construction. His experience spans both public and private companies at both large and mid-size organizations including Bausch & Lomb, Inc. and HCP, Inc. Most recently he served in a dual role as CFO of a closely held vertically integrated agricultural firm in Florida with family office responsibilities as well. Jeff graduated magna cum laude from Tufts University in 1991 with a BA in Economics. He earned his MBA in Finance and Accounting from the Stern School of Business at New York University in 1995 and is also a CPA. Jeff and his wife have two sons currently in college at UVA and Delaware and are happy to be back in New York City where he began his career.
Chief Operating Officer
Jason Glazer joined Cornerstone Macro in July 2014 as the Chief Operating Officer. Prior to joining Cornerstone, Jason spent 1 ½ years at Cowen & Company where he was a Managing Director and Regional Manager for New York Hedge Fund Sales following their acquisition of Dahlman Rose. Previously, Jason spent 6 years at Dahlman Rose as a Managing Partner where he was Co-Head of Equities & Head of Sales. Jason spent 8 ½ years as a Managing Director at Bear Stearns, first as a healthcare sales specialist and then as a hedge-fund sales specialist. Jason started his career at Eli Lilly & Company in Pharmaceutical Sales. Jason graduated from Bucknell University with a BA in Economics & Political Science and has an MBA in Finance & International Business from New York University’s Stern School of Business; which includes a semester in European Management Studies at Hautes Etudes Commerciales (HEC) Paris in Jouy-en-Josas, France.
Frank Moronski joined Cornerstone Macro in September of 2013 as the compliance officer. Prior to joining Cornerstone, Frank was at G & L Partners for 10 years where he was an equity trader and managed the compliance program. Frank started his financial career as an equity research associate with Bankers Trust Co and eventually joined Deutsche Bank as a trading assistant on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange. Frank currently holds the Series 7, 24, 55 and 63 licenses and is a graduate of Rutgers University.
Charlie Di Maggio
Charlie Di Maggio is the Comptroller of Cornerstone Macro. He initially joined Cornerstone Macro July 2013 as an accounting intern. Post-graduation he began full time, working in the finance group under the firm’s Chief Financial Officer. Prior to joining Cornerstone, he interned within Merrill Lynch’s Global Wealth Management team (The FAND Group), which offered personalized wealth management strategies for individual high net worth clients. Charlie graduated magma cum laude with a combined MBA/BBA degree in Public Accounting from Pace University. He holds a series 27 license and is the Financial and Operations Principal (FINOP) of the firm.
Director of Operations
Mark Vieira joined Cornerstone Macro in July 2013 as Operations Manager. Prior to joining Cornerstone, Mark was instrumental in the launch of two fixed income businesses, the first in 2009, when Mark was hired as Vice President to help four founding partners launch Glenville Partners, a boutique fixed income broker dealer. He was responsible for the setup of the physical infrastructure, all operational aspects, as well as covering accounts. In 2010, after the experience of launching Glenville, he helped Glenville’s founders launch Cortview Capital a fixed income broker dealer with a $125 million commitment from Warburg Pincus. He was Director of Operations managing the middle office and clearing operations for Cortview supporting the sales and trading team in all aspects of the business. Mark began his career in 1998 as a Liaison on Prudential Securities Fixed Income Sales desk executing trades for the firm’s retail brokers. After a year he was promoted to the Institutional Emerging Markets Fixed Income sales desk focusing on Latin America. In 2004, after a merger between Prudential & Wachovia he transitioned over to the Institutional Sales desk covering US accounts for Cash and CDS Fixed Income. Mark graduated from Fordham Preparatory School and then went on to graduate from Franklin & Marshall College with a BA in Business Management.
Robert Zimmermann joined Cornerstone Macro in July of 2017 as member of the accounting team. Prior to working at Cornerstone, Robert worked in the accounting department at Diamond Communications. Robert graduated from Moravian College in 2016 with a B.A. in Finance. While at Moravian College he was captain of the Men’s Basketball team and won the Team Player Award two years in a row.
Christy Haworth is a member of Cornerstone Macro’s Research Distribution team. Prior to joining Cornerstone Macro, Christy was at Atlantic Investment Management for three years assisting the Investor Relations and Investment Teams. Prior to Atlantic, Christy worked at her family’s investment firm in Texas focusing on client relations for six years. She graduated in 2009 with a Bachelor of Business Administration and double major in Marketing and Entrepreneurship.
Kathleen Turnowski joined Cornerstone Macro in September 2017 as a member of the Operations team. Prior to joining Cornerstone, Kathleen was a social studies teacher at various private schools on Long Island, including her alma mater, Sacred Heart Academy where she taught Global and American History. She also worked as a social media manager and administrative assistant at a premier yoga studio in the north shore of Long Island. Kathleen graduated from Molloy College in 2012 with a B.S. in Music Performance. During her four years, she performed in the Molloy College Concert Choir and ultimately gave a solo senior performance recital showcasing her accomplishments in both voice and piano. Upon returning to Molloy College to study her love of history, Kathleen received her M.S. in Adolescent Education Social Studies. She graduated in 2015 as a certified social studies teacher and a member of the International Education Honor Society, Kappa Delta Pi.
